At the threshold between architecture and metaphor, FLOW by NUDES, led by architect Nuru Karim, transforms movement into meaning. Conceived as a shaded walkway at the HITEX Exhibition Centre, FLOW is not just a passage between two halls, it is a sculptural experience that reframes transition as an act of connection.
Inspired by the lyrical oscillations of the sine wave and the reflective surface of Hyderabad’s iconic lake, Hussain Sagar, the structure becomes a living metaphor for the city itself, a place where histories ripple, identities converge, and futures expand. Its helix-like form evokes the convergence and dispersion of waves, inviting visitors to move through architecture that embodies both stillness and dynamism.
Can a walkway become more than a passage, a rhythm, a dialogue, a story of connection?
Constructed with a modular interplay of Astral PVC pipes, bamboo corrugated roofing, and steel hollow tubes, FLOW finds poetry in efficiency. Its rhythmic verticality mimics interference patterns, choreographing a spatial sequence of light, shadow, and shade. In this way, FLOW functions simultaneously as a civic landmark, a climate-responsive device, and a narrative tool that transforms utility into storytelling.
In a city layered with intersections, between modernity and heritage, disturbance and stillness, expansion and origin, FLOW becomes a civic emblem. It asks: What if infrastructure could inspire imagination? What if the most utilitarian gestures could become moments of pause, reflection, and shared experience?
At its core, FLOW embodies Nuru Karim’s long-standing practice of merging art, architecture, and computation to serve human and environmental needs. In this project, transition is no longer background, it becomes the story itself.
